Born into a musical family in Memphis, guitarist/singer/songwriter Eric Gales learned to play the electric guitar upside-down and left-handed, and his masterful playing and vocals have earned him two BMAs for Blues Rock Artist of the Year in 2019 and 2020.

His first eponymous album was released in 1991 on Elektra Records, earning him a Best New Talent in the 1991 Guitar World Magazine’s Readers’ Poll.

In 1996, he and brothers Eugene and Manuel recorded “Left Hand Brand” as the Gales Brothers. His discography includes 19 albums, the latest of which is “Crown” (2022), produced by Joe Bonamassa, who is also a guest on the album.

The songs address Gales’ struggles with addiction and express his opinions on the state of the world today.

Gales has been influenced by Albert King, Jimi Hendrix, jazz and classical music. (Incidentally, he is right-handed, but learned guitar from his older brother, who is left-handed.)
